Writing
Informational/Personal Expertise
Nonfiction reading and writing is the most common type of text that literate adults use. To aid young students in successfully writing informational text, they need to learn how to navigate through various steps of the process: generate ideas, plan, draft, revise, edit and publish. We will assist students in discovering what the different types of informational text look like and the structures and features proficient writers utilize when writing for various purposes.
The children have established their idea for their informational book. They have made the title page, the labeling page, and the first page of what it is they want to teach others about their topic. They will finish their books by adding a Table of Contents and editing.
Math
Cumulative Assessment
Math review pages and assessment for report cards. The review pages will help them with assessment.
Social Studies/Science
This week we focused on the life cycle of a butterfly. We watched a BrainPOP Jr. clip and read several books. We were engaged in different learning activities and released our butterflies on Tuesday.
Religion
We Pray, "Glory to God!":
This week focus was on how we can sing God's praises. Praising God means telling how wonderful he is. We praise God in the Mass when we sing "Glory to God."
Sharing Faith at Home: Share the story with your child of how King Hezekiah praised God, by talking about the story or reading it aloud at bedtime. Discussion Starter: How do we praise God in Mass and at home?
